To most Quebec Evangelicals, the USA was the Promised Land. Over there being an Evangelical didn’t make you a freak. Much to the contrary, that religion was a powerful force in American society, seeping into their politics even.

The USA was part of the Western World, therefore they were nominally Christian. But believe it or not, there had practically been zero Catholic Presidents of the US. All of them were Protestants, in other words Evangelicals for the most part. To say that it was the state religion would be an understatement…
