“You know that time we went to New York?” Jean hiccuped.

“Yeah, that was weird, huh,” Philippe shook his head. “Just, all that stuff was just… weird.”

“Right,” Jean belched the bubbles out of his system. “Did I ever tell you what I saw? You know, the night I couldn’t sleep?”

“No,” Philippe drank. “You just said something was going on.”

“You knew what I meant though,” Jean sipped his beer. “Right?”

“About what?”

“Chloé, Marthe… Gabriel.”

“Well, I’ve seen some… things. I’ve heard some rumours. I mean, what happened in 2012 was out of line. That’s why I left, you know. But…”

Jean leaned back in his recliner: “Yeah. Just a rumour, right?”…
